A Public Lecture by PROF CHARLOTTE SUMMERS

Prof Summers is the University Professor of Intensive Care Medicine, University of Cambridge. She graduated in both Biomedical Sciences and Medicine from the University of Southampton, and later undertook a PhD at Cambridge, alongside specialist clinical training in Respiratory (Cambridge) and Intensive Care Medicine (London). She was the UK’s first NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Intensive Care Medicine, and awarded both a Fulbright All-disciplines Scholar Award and a Wellcome Trust Fellowship for Postdoctoral Clinician Scientists to undertake research at the University of California, San Francisco. She returned to Cambridge in 2015, where she currently co-leads the Peri-operative, Acute, Critical Care and Emergency medicine (PACE) Section of the Department of Medicine alongside being the Clinical School’s Director of Clinical Academic Training.

Prof Summers is a member of the UK-COVID Therapeutic Advisory Panel and Chief Investigator of HEAL-COVID, the national Urgent Public Health platform clinical trial aiming to find drug therapies to improve the longer-term clinical outcomes of people hospitalised with COVID-19.


A visit to the Henry Martyn Hall, Cambridge

The Henry Martyn Hall was built on the occasion of the first birth centenary of Henry Martyn in 1881 when there was a revival and enthusiasm in Cambridge about world mission. The Hall offered a meeting space for Cambridge students and Christians in the city to gather, pray, learn about and to prepare for participating in missions around the world.
