The Congregational Council for World Mission was formed in 1966 as an amalgamation of the London Missionary Society and the Commonwealth Missionary Society. With the formation of the United Reformed Church by unification of the Congregational and Presbyterian Churches in 1972 it was re-named the Council for World Mission.
