The seminar will explore both the content and the publishing of The Ugandan Churches and the Political Centre. The book is a series of case studies from different times and locations on how the Ugandan Churches relate to the political centre, ranging from cooperation, through co-option to confrontation. These different positions are rooted in Uganda’s distinctive Christian history, where faith and politics were intertwined from the outset, and are supported by particular images and examples from the Bible. The road to publishing this title on three continents has not been without its trials, in part because of the politically sensitive nature of its content caused concerns among East African publishers.
